Formed By Makers: Our Story

The journey to Formed By Makers began with a dream I had back in 2007 when I returned to college to become a car designer. My goal was always to work at Ford Motor Company, and that dream came true in 2011, I spent several years there, learning from some of the best in the industry and gaining deep experience in automotive design and development.

In 2016, I made the bold decision to leave Ford and start Makers Garage—a brand born out of my desire to create modern, well-designed parts for my own 1993 CobraMustang. At the time, the aftermarket for these cars felt stagnant. I saw an opportunity to build something new, something better.

Our first product was a carbon fiber chin spoilers for the 87-93 Mustang. That design eventually evolved into a vacuum-formed version, but early production was handled overseas. While the quality was solid, we ran into all the usual challenges: rising shipping costs, long lead times, and inconsistent timelines. A good friend finally pushed me to take control of the process—encouraging me to bring manufacturing in-house and learn vacuum forming ourselves.

In 2022, we took the leap. I purchased the equipment, built out the shop, and began producing everything in-house—starting with our chin spoilers. We added a CNC router shortly after, giving us full control over tooling and trimming. Before long, we became a vertically integrated vacuum forming manufacturer, producing all our parts in-house with greater speed, consistency, and quality. With this control we have grown our product line to over 70 sku’s

As our capabilities grew, so did outside interest. Other businesses began reaching out, asking if we could help them develop and manufacture their own products. What started as internal innovation at Makers Garage turned into a broader service—and from that, Formed By Makers was born.

Today, Formed By Makers offers the same design, tooling, and manufacturing expertise that we refined through building our own products—now available to other brands, startups, and manufacturers. And because we’re not just a service provider, but a product company too, we understand the pressures, budgets, product margins, timelines, and expectations our clients face. We’ve been in your shoes, and we built Formed By Makers to be the kind of partner we always wished we had.

What started as a solo vision has grown into a lean, multi-talented team of designers, fabricators, and problem-solvers—all driven by the same goal: to help you bring smart, well-built products to life.
